I’m so happy to share some good news! My hand-dyed work, “Colorful Wreath – Floral and Leaf Transfer Dyeing Wool Square Handkerchief,” has been selected for the 2026 “Taiwan Green Craft” certification competition.
This piece uses a wool square handkerchief as the fabric. Through floral and leaf transfer dyeing, the outlines, colors, and natural changes resulting from steaming are left on the fabric. From the selection of plant materials, mordant treatment, arrangement of the image, binding, to steaming and opening the fabric, every step affects the final appearance of the leaf veins, color gradations, and overall image depth.
Being selected this time is a very important affirmation for Hand-Dyeing Nichiwa. It also makes us more certain that natural dyeing and floral transfer dyeing are not just techniques practiced in the course, but can also become craft works that can be used in daily life, seen, and recognized.
Thank you to all the friends, students, and partners who have supported Hand-Dyed Sunrise along the way. The studio will continue to accumulate more stable, meticulous works that can be incorporated into everyday life, exploring the interplay of plants, fibers, mordants, and everyday crafts.
